Ranch Quilts

When I first started quilting, I saw that these fabrics would be coming out and knew I had to have them for the cabin.  I waited patiently (thanks Jill-again) for them to come out and then to be delivered.  I'm am so tickled with how they turned out.  I even quilted the cowboy one.  I love straight lines on a quilt.  It was certainly a learning experience and luckily you can't see the novice job I did unless you look very close.

Finn's Quilt

My friend Jill gave me a FQ bundle (Riley Blake) for my birthday that was perfect for my boys.  I finished Finn's quilt and have everything cut for Hans'.  Finn loves it and everyone asks when theirs will be done.  And yes that's minkie on the other side.  He asks to put that blanket on him before I pull the covers over him at night.  In case you were wondering, the pattern is Thimble Blossoms-Wild Thing.

This is the most stunning quilt if I do say so myself.  NOT because I did it but because of the fabric.  It is Anna Maria Horner (of course).  It is her Little Folks voile.  I have never felt anything like it!!!!!  I heard bloggers describe it as "like butter" and it is completely true.  I totally forgot to take pictures of it before I sent it off to my fabulous cousin and her baby girl.  I snagged these photos from her.  This quilt is absolutely DELICIOUS!  I'm in LOVE!  I'm also in love with this baby!!!  Isn't she adorable?!

I owe it all to you Anna Maria (and you too Jill of course)

I'm happy to announce the birth of my new blog that will be a journal of my quilts.  Last year, I was introduced to quilting by my good friend Jill.  She had an online fabric business for about a year.  I loved going to her house to see what new projects she was up to and to take in all the beautiful bolts of fabric she had on shelves in her basement.  I found I could not be anything but happy looking at the color and pattern and over time felt like maybe this is something I might want to do.  I had no sewing experience (well only helping put together a couple quilts with friends) and no sewing machine for that matter.  Then I saw it!!!  The most beautiful quilt I have ever seen.

The fabric was stunning and it was then I knew I MUST learn to quilt.  Bret saw the fresh look on my face and the cheer that oozed out of me when talking about fabric.  He supported me whole heartedly.  I headed off to get my new Bernina and when I got home, my son Anders said he has never seen me so giddy!!! Great Start!!!  I must admit I'm not nearly in love with quilting as I am the fabric.  Quilting is just a perfect place to showcase it!!!  You will soon find that my quilts are rather simple and they usually involve large patterns.  I'm not afraid of the intricate patterns nor do I think I won't be able to do them.  I just love the fabrics and feel they really can stand on their own.  The above quilt is the one I saw on Jill's basement floor.  She made it for her brother's wedding present.  This leads me to my most favorite fabric designer BY FAR!!!  Anna Maria Horner's fabric is breathtaking-all of it!!!  Her colors are stunning and there are some that I just can't stop looking at, or feeling for that matter.

Well, I still haven't finished this Anna Maria Horner Good Folks quilt yet.  I wanted to have a few others under my belt before I took the plunge.  I was so nervous to start cutting.  The quilt top turned out amazing and I will post pictures as soon as its done!!!

Here are 2 out of 3 of my first completed quilts (I need to take a picture of my first and Bret's in Zions with my camera).  They are both Joel Dewberry, Deer Valley fabric.  This was perfect for our cabin.  I look forward to using them every time I am there.

I just pieced another quilt for the cabin.  It's American Jane, Happy Campers in a disappearing 9-patch design.  I LOVE it and can't wait to quilt it.  I'm saving for the backing!
Here's a sneak peek

I'm hoping to have this and 3 others done by August.  Wish me luck!!
